These Units are quite easy to install in place of older non-Universal units.
Easily installed right where old box was. Wiring is compatible with existing home wiring. 10 year battery life is amazing! Very good price.
Was able to switch out my old smoke detector with the new 10 year battery version. Extremely easy to do. Replaced the old bracket with the new one and mounted the new alarm in a couple minutes. Clear instructions. I have about seven more that I will be replacing soon.
I dreaded replacing my wired-in smoke detectors, but it had to be done. These were quite easy to install, and the 10 year battery was a big plus!
Excellent product. Easy to install. Great customer service. One alarm didn't work because the activation tab was somewhat pulled out. I called the company and a new one was immediately shipped to me.

I am very pleased with my purchase of the dual smoke and fire alarm. I also have two of their dual smoke, fire, and CO2 alarms. I plan to install 3 or 4 more of the dual smoke and fire alarms. USI was about the only company I found that had the dual smoke, and fire alarms, as well as the smoke, fire, and CO2 alarms. I have recommended these to other people.
I needed a whole house replacement for new construction detectors that were at end of life and got a good deal on upgraded 10 year battery models and got a few more carbon monoxide detectors to cover every bedroom and added a natural gas detector. Replacing the ceiling mount bracket and a couple wiring pig tails was not too hard. Very happy to not have to replace batteries and to have the best protection for my family.
Super easy to install, and looks elegant. With the 10-year battery backup, it's set and go and worry-free! I feel safe and well protected. Highly recommended!
I replaced all the smoke detectors in my house. I had excellent an experience with purchasing USI products and installing them.
I was looking to replace 20 year old hardwired smoke alarms. Just a little research revealed that smoke alarm tech has changed and UL has updated their specifications to match. You want to look for smoke alarms that meet UL 217 8th edition. The “8th†part is what changed. Many smoke alarm ads say they comply with UL 217 without specifying the edition, which probably means it does not meet the specs of the 8th edition. This model also has a 10 year battery that now is required in Maryland and many other states. None of the brands sold in the big box store such as Kidde and First Alert meet the new spec. They even still sell alarms with 9V batteries. I guess they need low cost offerings. That's how I ended up buying this USI smoke alarm. Installation was just like any other smoke alarm. If the house wiring to your smoke alarm has a third wire, this will cause all alarms to go off if any alarm goes off. Useful if you live in a large house.
These are truly the all-in-one smoke alarm. There are so many features in smoke alarms today, which makes choosing one very difficult. But USI packs all the features into one unit, without adding to the cost. Not to mention that the battery is guaranteed to last 10 years, so no more waking up to that annoying beeping sound in the middle of the night. Hooray!!
One of the detectors was on backorder, as many items are during a pandemic, but the company sent them when they predicted they would be back in stock. My friend helped me do the hardwiring on all 5 detectors, and after the first one, the others went quickly. So far no false alarms, and they test well. The hardest part of installation was figuring which circuit breaker on my electrical panel shut off all the detectors!!

Great smoke & fire detector. Really like the fact that they are dual sensor detectors. Replaced all 3 of my hardwired detectors. Installation was very easy for me, but if your not comfortable with electrical wiring, I suggest hiring a certified electrician. I do wish they made a version of this with a built in path light.
Just installed them in the garage, kitchen and bedroom hallway. No nuisance alarms after three days with moderate cooking. Starting car in the garage did not cause an alarm. These were the only ones I could find with dual sensing, interconnection and smart rejection of nuisance alarms.
