These Units are quite easy to install in place of older non-Universal units.
I have tried everything, every brand (except Universal) since I've lived in my house, now over 40 years, and have had nothing but false alarms and irritating resets...usually at something like 3 a.m. So far, nothing but peace and quiet from these. I like the promise of new technology, especially because the "old" technology wasn't very satisfying. Came nicely packaged. Two minor complaints: 1) They should come with at least the larger headed screws for base installation, because I had to scrounge up some from my workshop that had heads large enough to hold the base to the ceiling boxes; and 2) Although the hard wire connectors are supposed to be universal (and they well might be), I found the fit to be just a little too tight, so I had to take a couple of minutes to splice in the ones that came with the Universals. Quality appears to be high...and thank God I don't have to listen to some nagging voice calling out "Fire!" every couple of seconds.
I needed a whole house replacement for new construction detectors that were at end of life and got a good deal on upgraded 10 year battery models and got a few more carbon monoxide detectors to cover every bedroom and added a natural gas detector. Replacing the ceiling mount bracket and a couple wiring pig tails was not too hard. Very happy to not have to replace batteries and to have the best protection for my family.
It was very easy to replace my existing wired smoke detectors with these new USI combo units that detect CO, smoke, and fire. So far I'm very happy with the three USI combo units I installed. After installation, I pressed each units test button and each unit worked perfectly. This was a great investment ordering online from USI. I, also, got a discount for my first online purchase from USI.

I replaced all the smoke detectors in my house. I had excellent an experience with purchasing USI products and installing them.
I purchased from USI because they were the only ones who made a smoke alarm with both ionization and photoelectric AND a carbon monoxide detector. I put these in each bedroom to make sure my family was protected to the best of ability. I put USI's regular ionization/photoelectric detectors everywhere else. I really like that they are hardwired and will all alert together letting us know about a dangerous condition no matter where we are. I will recommend these detectors to my friends and extended family because they are first rate products and because of the excellent customer service
High quality construction, super easy installation and minimal packaging material.
These appear to be state-of-the-art units. I ordered 3 but one appeared to be malfunctioning. Their customer service is OUTSTANDING and they agreed to replace the one unit immediately. Once I get that unitl installed. Mark me 5-Excellent.
They require us to change the connectors from the wall to the alarm. They were easy to put up and look better than the 10-year-old alarms that were yellowed with age.

I only discovered recently that most smoke alarms do not detect both smoldering and flaming fires. This alarm does both, plus detects CO. The 10 year battery is a huge plus.
Wanted a detector that me upcoming requirements after Kidde recalled my previous detectors and sent me replacements that did not meet the new standard. This product met the new requirements. Was easy to install and has indicator lights that clearly show the status of the detector

I purchased 4 dual zone detectors and 3 more including carbon monoxide detection. Shipping was quick and in undamaged clam shell packaging. Install was a breeze and they work perfectly. I was very satisfied so I ordered another set for the tenant on the other side of the duplex I own and live in. Now planning to order another set for another rental I own. 10 years of not worrying about batteries or tenants removing inferior detectors. Definitely recommend.
