The Lyric thermostat works on low voltage systems rated for 24 volts. This is the common voltage for most furnaces, heat pumps and air conditioning systems. The Lyric thermostat will not work on line voltage systems of 110 volts or higher. These systems are typically electric baseboard systems and will have thick black, white or red wires connected with wire nuts on the thermostat and often times installed on a junction box.

After struggling to find a good Wi-Fi thermostat I finally found the lyric. This thermostat is nice because I can easily use it with my older model furnace that does not have a C wire. So far it is working very well. I am not using all the Geo fencing features and fancy stuff like some people do. But I enjoy the ability to monitor the temperature remotely and change the programming over the web.
I had struggled with the nest prior to purchasing this model. Nests customer service was terrible to say the least. I found the lyric to be quite easy to setup and install on my wall. I called customer service twice before purchasing and they answered right away. They were also English speaking and easy to understand. Not something to take for granted these days.
This was so easy to install and connect to my Wi-Fi network. I love the way it is laid out and the unique Geo fencing technology.
