I installed about midway on the wall centrally located in the house. I was told several years ago by a friend of mine who works for the gas company that kitchen counter height is the best location for the alarm to detect carbon monoxide. When carbon monoxide mixes with air in tends to not rise. Be sure to search the internet for yourself. There seems to be a lot of conflict on the proper location.
Working as advertised! Only thing is press hard to test. I thought all were broken but it was just due to not pressing hard enough. Assuming they continue to last as advertised I'd purchase again
Very portable.... plan to take it it on trips for hotel safety.
The unit was easy to install. I'm looking forward to not having to replace batteries anymore.
The fellow who fixed my fireplace said I should get a carbon monoxide alarm. The unit looks nice, blends in and tested ok.
I purchased this Carbon Monoxide Alarm because it has the ten year sealed battery. This makes it more reliable, no more hassle of replacing batteries and in many states it is becoming the law to have a unit with a sealed battery. I love the size of the unit and flexibility to hang it up or simply place it on my dresser. I really like that the digital display lights up when you push the test button but otherwise does not shine a light, there are too many lights on all the time on items. This is a must buy for peace of mind and ease of maintenance.
So far this product seems to work and has given no odd beeps as I've seen in other reviews. We like that it can be moved, or it can be mounted on the wall. We plan to take it with us as we travel. Thanks, First Alert!

This CO Alarm appealed to me because it is portable, so I can take it with me when I travel. I can also use it at home, of course, to supplement my existing First Alert CO Alarms. It proved easy to set up and to read, and I trust it will work reliably.

This was simple to turn on and simply set on the dresser. It provides the temperature in the room which is a nice additional feature.
