This incandescent bulb has a shatter resistant coating and can be used in any standard base socket. Traditional 3-way bulbs can only be used in special 3-way sockets. They have two filaments and one seems to burn-out before the other and you are left with a one-way bulb and a 3-way cost. This Smart Bulb 4-Level Dimmer has one filament and can be used in our standard base socket.
