Filter Replacement

Since the filter needs to be cut to size I like how it came with an instruction sheet that you could “cut along the lines”. Instead of cutting the paper, I marked the dimensions on the filter with a white crayon and laid it on a piece of cardboard and used a box cutter knife with a fresh blade for a perfect cut. I can already see all the dust it has filtered from the air. I should also note that the filter didn't have any kind of weird chemical odor to it.

Great Idea!!

Hepa filters are wonderful but, because they're as wonderful as they are, they're a tad pricey. Which is why this inexpensive and useful pre-filter is so great. It protects the hepa filter from huge amounts of casual dust and dirt, especially when the evaporative coolers are on and much of the desert outside our house tries to come in. I'm very grateful for this prefilter material.

The filter is fine, but comes in a big sheet that needed to be cut to size. After cutting, it was a bit floppy and hard to install in the air purifier. I wish they made filters the right size for our model, but we have never found them.

Honeywell Air Purifier Pre-Filter

The template that arrives with the pre-filter makes cutting the pre-filter to fit the air purifier efficient and easy. The air purifiers have a light to indicate that the pre-filters should be changed although it is pretty easy to tell because the dust shows up against the black pre-filter. All in all, very high quality air purification system.

A Plus Pre Filter

A+ filters

Delivery and price were good. Haven't installed yet, but wanted to try the A+ filter. Most stores in the area have the regular A in stock. I have 3 different sizes of the Honeywell air purifiers so its nice these can be cut to any size although it would be more convenient if they were pre-cut. The filters do make a difference in air circulation and amount of dust in the air especially during times you may not be using your furnace/air conditioner.

I have some difficulty cutting it exactly even so I end up with one that fits the machine good and the second one not as good I really would appreciate it the manufacturer would sell it already precut to the right size and then allI would have to do is pop out the old filter and replace it with the new filter

Frustrating

The pre-filters are fine and work as they should. Cutting them to the proper size and then managing to get them wrapped around the 3 sections of the filter which do not fasten together is extremely frustrating. I finally used pieces of duct tape to keep the filter parts together until I could get the pre-filter wrapped around them.

I give the A+ filter an A+!

I ordered the A+ pre-filter for my HPA300 series air purifier directly from Honeywell because I was unable to find it at any local stores. I live in a small studio apt. and cooking odors are sometimes an issue. The regular A filter did not eliminate the odor whereas the A+ filter does a very good job of removing unpleasant cooking odors – very nice. Ordering on line was easy and I received the filters in short order. Cutting the filter to size and installing it was simple and was pleased to discover that there was enough filter media in each package to make two filters for the HPA300. I am very satisfied with this product.

Bonus Function with This Pre-filter

This filter comes in one big sheet so you have to cut it to fit the air purifier model you have. Pros - if you have several sizes of filters, this means you have material for all of them. Cons - if you dislike cutting, you may want a different product. THE BEST FEATURE - the odor part. This filter is a little thicker than the pre-cut, but it sure takes care of odors.

I ordered 2 of the Honeywell Universal Prefilters that allow you to cut the filters to fit your specific air cleaner. Each box came with a big folded paper that had templates for many of the air cleaners that Honeywell makes. There was more than enough filter material in one box to make at least four or more prefilters for my air cleaners. Because there was so much prefilter material to work with in one box, I gave my son my second box to use with his Honeywell air cleaner. I am only hopeful that they still sell these in a couple of years because, by then, I may need to reorder them.

Nothing glamorous here. Comes with clear instructions and the template to cut the material to fit our unit. I wish it was factory cut to fit each unit. Cutting the material requires an artistic touch. It was also folded into the packaging which made holding the template to the material a challenge. Overall, the unit is working again and that is positive. However, I am not looking forward to the next pre-filter change.

Although the box says this is a zeolite carbon filter...it is considerably thinner than the filters I received several years ago. It does an adequate job in cleaning the air but does not do a good job protecting the hepa filter from dust.

Highly Recommended

I am asthmatic and don't know what I would do without my Honeywell air filtration units. Any time there's a lot of wind or a fire nearby, I turn them on and they clear the air within a short period of time. They not only help me breathe better but the whole house begins to smell better. I own two Honeywell filter units - a 17200 I've owned this unit for several years and it keeps running and a 50255. Also, I previously purchased imitation filters and an unusual smell came out of the unit so I now only buy Honeywell products.

I am happy with the quality of overall. They do seem to be not as thick as the pre filters that come with the original unit. Yes there are perforations in this product and there is a guide so that you can cut it to fit your unit. However honestly these really should be coming pre-cut. Honeywell knows the measurements, they include the guide. I think these products would be a better seller if they were precut. Use these genuine Honeywell!

We had tried a generic version - they smelled so bad we threw them away the same day. Then we bought Honeywell direct from the online Honeywell store because we wanted to make sure they were not knockoffs sitting on the discount stores shelves. Saved me during CA wildfires

We have had a lot of wildfires and during the recent Butte County fire, I felt like I was choking on the smokey air. I ran my Honeywell air filter continuously and stayed indoors as much as possible. I am convinced this saved me from getting sick since my lungs are very sensitive to wood smoke. Great product.

Honeywell Filter A Plus Household Odor & Gas Reducing Universal Pre-filter, HRF-APP1

We purchase these twice a year to reduce cooking odors in our house since we don't have a quality range hood vent fan. By the 6th month you can tell the odor reducing quality has been diminished. It's a shame they can't be refurbed with an activated carbon spray, but this works fine for us. Will purchase again.

good prefilter for the money

I have been using the 50250 replacement pre-filters for years. They perform as expected, removing dust and odors from the air before the Hepa filter further cleans the air. The pre-filter comes pre-punched with cutting line holes wish they were white dotted lined for the people with vision problems but still easy for everyone else. This product fits many machines,as it's wide with multiple rows from top to bottom to custom fit your air purifier. They do need to add two more velcro strips to hold the end pieces down to prevent air going thru the slightly raised overlap area. I reused two velcro strips from previous pre-filter with purchases to help this. With that said a great bargain for allergy sufferers.

Excellent performance for my needs

I own 2 Honeywell air purifiers, the HPA-100 & 17000-S models. Having tried-out both a universal-type carbon pre-filter, and the HRF-APP1, I find the HRF-APP1 to perform significantly better at odor reduction, as well as, controlling dust, lint, and cat fur. Although this pre-filter costs a bit more, it is definitely worth it!

Good Filter

This filter works much better for odor control then the standard filter. It is easy to cut the filter to fit by either using the template included or by using your old filter as a guide. The odor removal feature does wear away with time but it usually happens within the time to replace the filter at three months.

Ahhh.....

Works great in combination with all natural odor absorbers and is a consistent blessing to one with plumbing and walls in need of repair trust me, you don't want to know, the bubble wrap sometimes isn't enough. Works great for most VOCs and allows the fresh smell of our plants to take over. Decreases dust in older homes by a thousand man-hours. Although it somewhat dries the air, a little humidity can aid in the process of VOC removal. To avoid extra inhalation of potentially harmful particles in older basements, I suggest the germ mode or turning it off while in the area. Naphthalene seems to be the toughest to remove, but a trusty bucket of water will help with clearing and help keep the filters smelling fresh. Just leave the bucket overnight and dump in the morning of course, I assume we all follow the instruction manual stating something, somewhere about do not submerse...or something. Even the toughest man-made chemicals eventually go, including the hated air freshener and perfume aisle. Works great with the R filters and H filters to remove nicotine and the blasted and trendy e-cigarette oils. Even my dog loves the fresh smell of zeolite. Although a bucket of water is helpful, the breakdown products and chemical reactions may be potentially harmful if the water is left to long due to unknown reactivity of ions in water and the polar nature of the water molecule. I am getting mostly the smell of hydrocarbons if the water is left too long in the naphthalene environment, but am also concerned about other potential ionic reactions. Certain clay minerals seem to trap the breakdown products and smell horrendous after usage. I am trying a new approach that probably won't work without other potential VOC problems.

Buying OME Best for Performance

I am using this Air Cleaner to remove Cockatoo dander, feather particles and powder from my kitchen because my wife has developed a lung problem from this allergen. To make sure the unit performs as designed I was not going to buy a generic equivalent to save a few dollars. Received my filter in a very timely fashion. Filters are one size fits many models. You cut to fit. One side has a white powdery coating. Nothing said which side is the IN facing side. Glad I was able to get a new filter. After cutting I was able to fit remnants into our smaller air purifiers. No wasted pieces that way.

Gas & Odor Filter

I recently purchased this air cleaner for both my home use and in the research lab that I work in. I was particularly interested in the cleaner and these filters that helped with gases in both locations. In my apartment, the carpeting was changed before I moved in and the air was not turned on for several weeks before I moved in and there was a persistent odor from the carpeting. The air cleaner helped a lot to remove the smell and helps with any sort of allergies or reactions. I can get better sleep at night and I got less headaches and woke up less congested when I use this machine. At work, there is concern of inadequate ventilation in the lab and this filter helps to remove the chemical smell in the air, giving me at least some peace of mind that the air I breathe is somewhat better as a result of the purification. I really like the fact that this filter can trap some of those VOCs and odors. Great product.

Easy to change and works very well! It is a fair price for this product but would welcome a sale as we only replace with Honeywell product. Fast shipping and arrived in good condition. Would recommend.

I have multiple allergies and asthma. I have been using a Honeywell air purifier for over 20 yrs. This pre-filter is one of its replacement parts. I wouldnt be getting any sleep at night without the air purifier.

I own the 50250 model air purifier and had to order this product. The size for mine was no longer manufactured. It was almost too short to go around the unit and the piece that was cut off is wasted. As far as the ease of ordering and speedy delivery, I am very pleased. I will continue to shop at the Honeywell store online for all future purchases. This model air purifier is ranked #3 according to Consumer Reports, with the first two way out of reach as far as the price.
